It was our first race ever and we had an absolute blast. I’ll be cleaning paint out of my ears for weeks but it was totally worth it. What a fun morning!
What artist was born and then buried in the small town of 9 mile (population 300) and recently included among Rolling Stone’s top 15 artists? Don’t know? Neither did Katie and I. But we didn’t need to because by the time that came up as the final question of trivia we had already amassed an insurmountable lead. Katie suggested we try bar trivia as a team of two at F O’Mahony’s, just down the street. I’d say it was an unqualified success. We walked away with the grand prize, 3 bottles of booze (pictured). Will team “Smell the Glove” repeat next week? A: Bob Marley

This game is just fantastic. Fortunately Katie shares my love for it.
The only tension occasionally comes when one of us tries to watch the other play. Katie wouldn’t dream of commanding her character (also a young brunette female named Katie) to do anything immoral; to do anything she herself would not do. I on the other hand will do just about anything it takes to make my character more powerful.
Its kinda funny to watch her squirm as she watches my guy lie, steal, cheat or even murder just to obtain some unique ring or dagger. I feel the same way watching her character spend hours running in game errands just so that some non-player controlled character will give her a key or book that could have just as easily been obtained through more nefarious means, like a quick arrow in the back.
Creates a fun dynamic though. Wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Today I get to celebrate my wife’s 26th birthday. I am so thrilled to be able to call myself part of her family even though I am relatively new on the scene. I will never get enough time with this woman.

My Best of 2011 - an addendum
When I post My Best of 2011 a few weeks ago I completely forgot this category, my favorite book. And for good reason; I had read just 3 books in 2010, all in the last few months of the year. But this year I got a library card, kindle touch, and a goodreads.com account (beckelmann). As a result I was able to polish off 16 books, all but 3 in the last half of the year. And so my favorite of the bunch are:

Next year should be even more productive in this category. My goal is going to be to read 26 books this year. 26 would be continuing at the rate I have been going for the last six months. Plus it is one more than Katie’s stated goal of 25. Hahaha.
This list is not meant to be a comprehensive review, it will only include things I have experienced in the last year and my decision will be completely dependent on MY experience . Finally entries need not be released/debuted in 2011. All that matters is that I enjoyed them this last year.
The first entry is my winner. The runners-up are roughly ordered but less thought was given after the number one slot.
