Dark Souls - IGN Review 9.0
The reviewer’s job is difficult when it comes to a game like Dark Souls. I simply can’t unreservedly recommend that you buy it. It’s not a game that you play to relax. It doesn’t care in the slightest about whether you’re enjoying yourself, and it doesn’t give a fig for your notions of entertainment or your mental well-being. If you just play games for fun, this isn’t for you, and no amount of insistence on my part is going to change that. But if you’re interested in the limits of the videogame form – to see just how focused, how pure and how uncompromising in its vision a game can be – Dark Souls is unmissable. If you take the time get into Dark Souls’ mindset, to begin to understand the twisted way in which it operates and taste the rewards behind its cruellest challenges, this is one of the most thrilling, most fascinating and most completely absorbing experiences in gaming.
color me intrigued
IGN recently updated their interactive list of the biggest releases of 2011 on each console as well as portables and PC. (I’ll link later)
As usual most of the biggest games (hype, budget, and sales) have fall release dates. So I get to spend the first half of the year psyching myself up for the craziness that is October and November.
To that end here are the Xbox 360 games that are on my radar. I have sorted them by personal excitement which is subject to change as we learn more about each game. It should also be noted that there are very few Xbox exclusives on this list. PS3 is poised to have a MUCH better year (especially if you like fps).

Saw 3D - New Movie Trailer
Truly terrible trailer. Perhaps indicative of the movie. So possibly an effective trailer, but still terrible.

Games I own in bold. Games I’ve played but don’t own in italics. RDR, L4D2 and Forza 3 are on my wish list.
Also, seriously? Halo Wars? Couldn’t put Fable II in there instead?
Finally, it may be nitpicking, but while Gears of War was incredible, I think that Gears of War 2 was a big step in the right direction. Either way, they are both better than Halo Wars.
Rock of the Dead (Wii)
So obviously this is what happened. Some small developer, Epicenter, decided to try to develop the ultimate game for me. It appears to be a game where you use your Guitar Hero controller to kill zombie hoards. Sorry Epicenter, I’m still not biting.
Fable III will not be an RPG
It will be an action game (think Assasin’s Creed). Not sure how I feel about this. (via IGN)
