I'm Lovin It
Overheard at Mcdonald’s I was just at McDonald’s claiming my Big Mac that I won at the Bulls game earlier this week. An irate customer ran up to the counter and angrily asked the timid cashier “Is this mine!” He told her that yes, the single cup of orange soda was hers and it was ready. She then asked “How much did it cost!” He referred to the receipt and...

andrewquinn: Grandma Munch blows out 90 birthday candles! This was pretty unreal. 90 candles with flames up to twice the height of the cake itself. More pictures to come later. Right now I am off to eat cake.

“The system worked”. It appears that Homeland Security has conveniently defined their “system” as the particular procedures they’ve carefully set in place as well as absolutely anything that happens to work out in their favor. link via Andy

Theme Change? Looking for input
I was playing around with new themes. This is definitely my favorite one I have found so far. I really like the search bar at the top and I like the color scheme a lot. My biggest concern is that the text may not be large enough. Do you agree? What do you guys think? I have found that using my browser to zoom in works wonders. But is that too much to ask of my followers?

Smokyprogg - GH5 Hell
My favorite GH player, smokyprogg, is hosting an event to raise money for Leukemia Lymphoma Society (LLS). He started streaming himself playing GH5 a few hours ago and will not be stopping until monday. The GH goal is to FC all of GH5 in this one marathon play session dubbed “GH5 Hell”. Check it out. Even donate if you feel so inclined.

When Zombies Attack!: Mathematical Modeling of an... →
One of the most fun math papers I have ever read. Here are some of my favorite quotes. We show that only quick, aggressive attacks can stave off the doomsday scenario: the collapse of society as zombies overtake us all. (abstract, 1) Now that is an abstract that really hooks the reader. Since all eigenvalues of the doomsday equilibrium are negative, it is asymptotically stable. It follows that,...

Tennis No. 1 Serena is top female athlete →
Read the entire article and you will find this little gem. Runner-up in the AP voting was Zenyatta, who capped a 14-0 career by becoming the first female horse to win the Breeders’ Cup Classic. It’s a sad year for women’s sports. Serena is the only female athlete to receive more votes than a horse.

My Best of 2009
I anticipate that most of this, my first blog, will center around sports, video games, food, movies, music, television shows, technology, work anecdotes, etc. So I thought it appropriate to start off with a “Best of 2009” post that incorporates all of these things. This list is not meant to be a comprehensive review, it will only include things I have experienced in the last year and...
